A year of many styles

"This interesting compilation represents most genres and styles that were popular in 1991, from the sublime rock of Shiny Happy People by REM and the poetic Whole Of The Moon by The Waterboys to the light pop of Jason Donovan, Rick Astley and Bananarama, the dance style of C+C Music Factory and the soul of Seal and De La Soul. My favorites on Disc One include Bolan's 20th Century Boy (the original dates from the early 1970s), the Oleta Adams and Bros tracks. On Disc Two, I like the 808 State contribution, 3 AM Eternal and the Grease Megamix (the originals of which date from the late 1970s). Too Sexy by Right Said Fred was one of those silly but addictive dance/pop ditties that had everybody humming along. This album is perfect for evoking the flavour of the year via the charts of the time, but not for lovers of serious music."
