CD Reviews

A TRUE Worship Experience.

"Special thanks to Verity Records and Teresa Hairston for putting together a dazzling second installment for the Gospel Heritage Foundation's Praise & Worship series. I would have given this cd 5 stars but because of the fact that the creativity was limited to exude each artist's ability, i gave it four. I'm a firm believer in artists being writers of their own craft because it ensures that this is their own personal testimony. Regardless, this cd is a TRUE worshiper's confessional. On a cool night in February 2003, the Gospel Heritage Foundation along with members in association with Gospel Today magazine and artists from Verity Records gathered and worshiped together during this awesome live recording. Most of the material was masterminded by the creative genius of Kevin Bond, America's most sought-after gospel producer. This cd includes incredible performances by Marvin Sapp, Vickie Winans, Richard Smallwood, Tonex, John P. Kee & VIP Mass, The Canton Spirituals, Virtue, and other greats in gospel music, all in one. Stellar quality! My favorites are Oscar Williams' "Forevermore," by Marvin Sapp, Fred Hammond's "You Are My Life" and his stirring interpretation of Richard Smallwood's "Total Praise," "Worship Experience," performed by Elder William Murphy from the critically-acclaimed Shekinah Glory Ministries team, and Tonya Baker's "To Know You," performed gracefully by Tonex. Other songs included were taken from other live performances and previously recorded studio projects such as Debra Killings' "Jesus" from her live release of the album "Surrender" and Virtue's "Nothing Else I Can Do." I love the ground that is covered in this album for one reason. The key to opening the door to God is Worship! People need to worship Christ in Spirit & in truth. Anyone who has relationship with God has to render a sacrifice of praise, in season and out. This album constantly reminds me that it takes more than religion to set captives free. It takes everyone as believers to live the life and let the world understand wholeheartedly that we are the 'salt of the earth.' We are their example and as they are learning how to praise God for how great He is, then we are to bond together in the beauty of holiness. One day, all of us will be united and in one accord worshiping Him for all eternity."
