A Bad Boy Ticket To Tomorrow Never Knows...
4-Legged Defender | ATL. GA. | 12/01/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"After picking up the 2 'GARAGE BAND HALLOWEEN' cd`s on this label, I decided to pop for this one as well, being a Mop Top kid way back when, and I`m not sorry I did. It opens with a terrific updating of 'Tomorrow Never Knows' by the NAZZ, and is followed by a killer 'Ticket To Ride' by VINCE MARTELL of the VANILLA FUDGE, that sounds like an out-take from a GOV`T MULE cd - even the vocals sound like WARREN HAYNES - ya gotta hear this! TOMMY FRENZY of TUFF DARTS does a good rendition of 'I Need You',IAN MITCHELL of the BAY CITY ROLLERS does a cover of the infinately obscure 'Letting Go' and MITCH SCHECTER of the RIP CHORDS (how long has it been since you heard some of these names??) does a faithful version of 'I Call Your Name'. THUNDER ROAD featuring PAT HORGAN does the only true garage-sounding track on the cd, a fine edition of 'Bad Boy' that sounds like it was done back in the 60`s. The rest of the tracks are good, but I can`t wrap my head around the painful pseudo-jazz-lounge take of 'Strawberry Fields Forever', probably `cause it`s one of the greatest psych songs ever written, and no doubt has poor John Lennon spinning in his grave like a rotisserie chicken... that said, it`s a fine addition to your BEATLES collection of Beatles covers/rareties/obscurities/oddities and the like. Check It !!"
A good tribute to the fab four at a GREAT price!

"This is a good tribute album to The Beatles with a bunch of solid cover versions. Some are obviously better than others, but at this price: just pick it up! It is totally worth it. This has a bunch of classic bands/artists on it. The version of "Strawberry Fields" is very interesting, in a cool way. And, I really like David Kraai & The Saddle Tramps' version of "One After 909"! Great vocals, vibe and the pedal steel is a nice touch. The song is more country than the original, but stays true to it. If you like The Beatles, you should get this album."

Patrick W. Horgan | Pleasant valley, NY United States | 10/19/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Track one : NAZZ ( featuring Stewkey) a mind blowing version of "Tomorrow Never Knows"

Track Two : VINCE MARTELL ( lead guitarist of VANILLA FUDGE) goes the distance with a six min version of "Ticket To Ride"

Track 3 " Tommy Frenzy ( of the infamous CBGB band TUFF DARTS!) rocks HARD with Beatle George's "I Need You"

Track 4: Stewart Francke ( The Mid-West's answer to THE BOSS)brings out the whole band for "And Your Bird Can Sing"

Track 5 : Pat Horgan & Thunder Road ( The Bronx's most DANGEROUS Band) Bangs out the Beatles Larry Willams cover "Bad Boy"

Track 6: Mitch Schecter ( lead guitarist/boy genius of THE RIP CHORDS) clones the lads with his "I Call Your Name"

Track 7 : LIZA LEE ( Indie Rock/Jazz/Resident Dish)slodes in with a maybe not too Garage-y version of "Strawberry Fields Forever"( but it's so GREAT..we're leting it in!)

Track 8:Ian Mitchell ( guitarist/ poster boy of THE BAY CITY ROLLERS) rcoks OUT to McCartney's solo opus "Letting Go"

Track 9 : John Wicks & The Records The most Beatles-esqe guys on the Record!

Track 10 : David Kraii & The Saddle Tramps. This guy gets a lot of radio play in the North East and it's easy to see why

All and all a bargain for the price!
