CD Reviews

Not for the squeamish...or dull-minded

"3 CDs, 35 Bands, 66 Tracks and one low price. If you roll over the great American behemoth and slit open its soft underbelly, you'll probably find something like this among the innards. This is the true face of the hardcore electronic underground music scene in all its unsanitized, unrestricted fury. You want anger? YOU GOT IT. You want noise? YOU GOT IT. You want sociopolitical diatribes that make you proud to be in a country where we still (mostly) have freedom of speech? YOU GOT THAT, TOO. Alec Empire is not someone who takes his music lightly and his assembled arsenal spread across these three discs underscore that fact. And there's an equally brutal European roster as well.(you're clicking the BUY button, right?)"
Tired? Bored? Try digital hardcore.

"You might be asking yourself "Why should I buy a box set of bands I've never heard of?" I asked myself the same question but curiosity won and I'm glad. This collection is a total breath of fresh air from the over produced, over hyped albums that almost made me hate electronic music. It's raw, loud and has plenty of attitude to match the title. There's something for everyone on here. It's got some guitar driven tracks but it also has jungle, drum 'n bass, filthy techno and even some hardcore noise tracks. (Well, the label is called digital hardcore so you shouldn't expect elevator music.) It's a 3CD set so there's plenty of music to keep your CD player busy for a while. It's a little out of the ordinary but I think that's why I like it."
