"These are so hard to find seperately and I can't imagine them all on one album. Brings back so many wonderful memories of the dance clubs that are no longer!"

"Freestyle lives on. VOLUME 1 was great and VOLUME 4 is just as good. With top songs from dance greats WILL TO POWER, LISA LISA, STEVIE B., COVER GIRLS, TRINERE, SHANNON, and LISETTE MELENDEZ you can't go wrong."
If you were there, you need to get this

"If you lived through it, you'll understand. If you didn't, there's no reason to continue reading.

The 80's were magical. I was at the University of Maryland and became heavily influenced by this new genre called "Freestyle". Actually, it didn't have a name in the DC/Balt. area and we simply called it "Club or Dance" music. Two stations played Freestyle but only late at night on the weekends. This exuberant, sunny music was perfect for the time we lived in. If you missed out because of age or region, I'm so sorry. This music was simply magical.

Needless to say, this compilation is excellent. Will to Power starts it off spicy hot and is followed properly by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam with one of the most powerful freestyle cuts ever recorded. Stevie B comes in with probably his biggest hit, "Spring Love", arguably the anthem for Freestyle lovers. This song takes you back to those warm nights in `87 when everything was possible, and nothing unreasonable.

Next, you've got the haunting, melodic sound of "The King of Freestyle", Noel. No discussion is allowed on this matter; He is "The King"!!! "Silent Morning" hit us all like a Bengali Tsunami. How can a CD be less than excellent with "Silent Morning" lying in the middle? Who could follow the King other than the exciting, sexy, first ladies of freestyle, "The Cover Girls". Other standouts include Shana with the loveable, flawless "I Want You", sexy Jaya, cuddly Sandee, Cyre and the vivacious, sexy Latina, Lisette Melendez.

The biggest freestyle hit ever produced was Shannon's "Let the Music Play" and this CD includes her follow up classic, "Give Me Tonite" which I personally liked much much more.

The only small complaint I have is that none of these are club or remix versions but that's just splitting hairs.

Conclusion: If you were there, you need to get this."
