CD Reviews

For the devout progressive house fan only

"Seems John Digweed and Nick Miur's label has shifted up a notch, cranking out a new disc around every other month. This time, it's likeminded artists reworking their own, with a collection of unreleased long and longer remixes to tracks progressive house fans probably have half of already. Yet there's still some extra mileage left to be squeezed out. Brancaccio & Aisher, riding a successful streak of remakes, lead off with the best in the bunch, chilling Jimmy Van M's thunderous "Sanctuary" to a mid-tempo moody opener filled with beat dropouts and barest scrap of the original. Oko Tek's "Luminous" runs against the rest by skewing trancey for a pleasant change, and Rui Da Silva's newer version of "Beautiful Strange" certainly wins the My Ain't That Out There award. On the downside, Pole Folder & CP's new version of "Apollo Vibes" just ups the speed a tad, lasting approximately forever and two minutes in the process. Let's call a moratorium on space chatter for at least a year while we're at it. And the rest, well, they thump along in the middle, likely to leave an impression on your speakers but not in your memory. Would have been nice to find some to-be-released exclusives rather than just a rehash of the back catalog. Enjoyable for the devout prog heads only."
Lives up to expectations... kinnda

"Prog gods Digweed and Muir drop another jewel in the form of Foundations Granite. The unmixed Foundations, a two disc set, was amazing and showcased the label's talents. Much is the tune in Foundations Granite, still unmixed and still with the deep tech groove of its precursor.
Pole Folder & Cp's Apollo Vibes (Track 2)is the 1st to hit hard, its long and spacy as ever, and with its baseline the longer the better. As for funk side of things look no further then Track 7 (Tijuana - Groove is in the Air [Moonface mix]) the synth is extremly catchy.
The only two disappointments I see on the disc is the Brancaccio & Aisher mix of Sanctuary, the original was prefect and the change is not to my liking, also this disc in devoid of Space Department (Danny Howles and co.) who made a large presence on the original Foundations also Salt Tank's Energy would have been nice too.
Over all its full of that trademark Bedrock flow, deep progressive with tech in the middle. The prefect Digweed & Muir blend."
