CD Reviews

Got to get out the funk!

"This cd represents the epitome of jazzy funk
from the late 60s and early 70s. All the songs
are rare singles, and the music is so much better
than all the garbage of today. This cd comes as close to matching the vibe
created by Curtis Mayfield's Superfly soundtrack
as anything else I've heard [another 5-star album].To the music industry:
PLEASE, MORE MUSIC LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Flying Funk to the Rescue!

"The date was going poorly. She was not impressed with the utilitarian simplicity of my 2001 Honda CRV's vinyl interior, nor what the rusty, three year old dent on the right front fender said about my character. Dinner at Olive Garden had suggested to her that I was a man of poor taste and little class, while spilling red wine on myself had only confirmed her suspicions. And whenever I opened my mouth to speak, I only made things worse.

As I drove her home that night, I slid the "Flying Funk" CD into the player as a final act of desperation. For once I decided to keep my trap shut and let the music do the talking. Turns out that was the right play. I could sense a change in her energy from the very first track, "Save Me," and by the time we got to her pad, her physical response to "It's Just Begun" (track 3) was indicating to me that the night was still young. "We Getting Down" and "Expansions" (tracks 4 and 5) tell you everything you need to know about how the date went from there. Rest assured we'll be seeing each other again real soon.

Thank you, Flying Funk.
