Can I have a little more echo on my voice?

(2 out of 5 stars)

"This is a two compact disc set featuring 52 Elvis Presley novelty and tribute songs. These are songs that were recorded while Elvis was still alive. There were many Elvis tribute songs recorded after Elvis died, which are available in a separate collection called To Elvis with Love. Most of the songs in this collection aren't very good. There are a few great songs, which are Stan Freberg's hilarious dissection of "Heartbreak Hotel", the Janis Martin (who was billed as "The Female Elvis") rockabilly song "My Boy Elvis", the Bill Parsons (aka Bobby Bare) hit "All American Boy" and Jerry Reed's "Tupelo, Mississippi Flash". Most of the rest of the material here is silly novelty songs. There are songs by girls declaring their love for Elvis and songs by guys jealous that their girls love Elvis. When Elvis went into the army, there were songs about that. When Elvis came out of the army, there were songs about that, too. There are "answer songs" to Elvis hits (like "Are You Lonesome Tonight?" is answered by a song titled "Yes, I'm Lonesome Tonight"). Not very much good material here, but at least it's a very comprehensive collection. The songs are recorded directly from records from the collections of Elvis collectors, and the sound quality is not that good in some cases. Here is the complete track listing:
