CD Reviews

Too Many So So Songs Leaves Me Wishing I Bought The Good MP3
Michael Lombardi | Montgomery county, New York | 08/06/2009
(3 out of 5 stars)

"As a 35 year old fan of Degrassi Junior High and High School from the 80s I've followed this entire Next Generation series from the beginning and solely bought the CD based on it being a Degrassi CD with performances from Cassie Steele, Jake Epstein and a few others on the tracks.

I'm rating on a 1-5 scale with 5 being the best.

Crash My Party - Performed by Cassie Steele (aka Manny), rating=3

It took a few listens to really get into this song.

Good Year - rating=3

I'm still uncertain on this song.

My Fair Weather Friend - rating=3

Again, not really digging this one after several plays yet.

Rescue You - Performed by Jake Epstein (aka Craig), rating=5

The N has teased us all summer long with this song and it's even better than the 30 second clips they've let us hear and fall in love with.

Watch Out For The Fuzz - rating=4

It took a few listens to give this better than a 3.

Life Is A Show - Performed by Cassie Steele, rating=5

Again, another song The N has teased us with in promotion for the film on the 14th, even greater than the small bits we've heard.

All I Wanna Do -rating=5

Now let me say this, I've never heard of this band, The School, and if they're other music is as great as this one song....WOW! I love this song! Great melody and such a sweet voice!

The Bee Hell - rating=2(and that's a gift)

Well, we've gone from great to god awful here. If they left out the smoky sounding buggles maybe I'd like this song better. Avoid this track like the plague!

Swan Song - Performed & written by Jake Epstein, rating=4

For one the song stands at just 1:46, too short to really get into it, but I up'd it from a 3 to a 4 since Jake also wrote the song and since I haven't seen the film I can't say if it's just a filler song in there.

Come On And Go - rating=4

I never heard of this band, Scout, sort of reminds me of In Bloom by Nirvana(not the vocals), I like it quite a bit.

I Just Wanna Party - performed and written by Jamie Johnston (Peter), rating=1

On the CD sticker they brag about 12 songs, well this 35 second hunk of crud is counted as one of the songs, worthless on the Cd but might be more relevant once we see the film!

One Saturday Night Away - Performed by Cassie Steele, rating=5

Well they know how to wrap the CD up nicely with this super pop anthem, great song!

So is the CD off Amazon ($11.99 + shipping) worth the full price to you? That's up to you; you'll probably want it as I did on CD if you're a diehard as my wife and I are(and we've got our girls hooked now too)!"
