CD Reviews

Not what I expected

"Don't get me wrong, it's quite the entertaining romp through a neat little blurb of American history, and I am glad that I own it...but recommending it to just any-ole'-body...I dunno.
See, when most people think of 1970's adult cinema, there is that heavy Wow-wow guitar riff that comes to mind. THere isn't a single track like that on this CD. What you do get is a very interesting mix of weird styles that kind of defy explination. Not only that, you might not want to play it when Grandma comes to visit...there is some, um, dialogue, so to speak, in the background of certain tracks that would raise a few conservative eyebrows, and make the neighbors wonder just what kind of freak they're living next to.
This CD is two things. One, it's really funny on a campy level. The music just doesn't really make you think of a hot night of passion; it just makes you chuckle at how silly sexuality can get.
Secondly, this is a great find for the music history buff. Never before (and hopefully never again) has a style of music like this crept into American culture.
This CD is more like a conversation piece than anything else, although it is a must have for anyone plauged by unwanted houseguests. Pop this one into the CD player, and people will definately remember an appointment they have to get to."
A Super Piece of Pop Culture History

"For a short twinklingly moment at the beginning of the 70s, adult films almost had the same stature as "real" movies. Thanks to the success of films like "Deep Throat" and "I am Curious Yellow," for a brief time adult films moved into real first-run movie houses. These were movies shot on 35mm film with relatively high budgets. DEEP NOTE: Music of 1970s Adult Cinema captures the excitement and fun of these movies from the golden age of adult film with great soundtrack jazz, soul-jazz, and 70s era rock. Nicely packaged in a folding digipak, DEEP NOTE also features some fun, spicy dialogue. I highly recommend this CD for anyone who enjoys the unusual."

"...It sounds like someone held a microphone next to a television set. The music selection is interestng and amusing, and the package is nice enough. The track details are sparse. Some tracks identify film titles; some do not, and there is no composer or musician or producer informationThere is a real need for a better version of an album like this...As for this, get it if you really don't care about audio quality. I usually DON'T, actually, but this album still bothers me. I'm sure it will bother a serious soundtrack album collector much more."
