"This is a set of the following cds, all with full artwork and cases:

Council of the Fallen- Deciphering the Soul

Abaddon Incarnate- The Last Supper

Polterchrist- Engulfed by the Swarm

Three albums for 9.99 is a deal that's hard to beat! A lot of times these sort of packages are just the label's way of cleaning out inventory and the albums are not particularly good, but in this case i'm pretty happy with it! You aren't going to find any life changing material here, but it's definitely some solid and enjoyable stuff for fans of death metal.

Council of the Fallen is a band featuring drummer Tim Yeung, probably a familiar name to most death metal fans. He's one of the most respected drummers in the scene; played on the first Hate Eternal album, Decrepit Birth's debut, and others. I was expecting this to be very fast and technical, considering Yeung's style on other albums. It turns out to have a lot of thrash influence along with the standard death metal stuff. The band also uses a variety of vocal approaches, some more effective than others. Good stuff!

Polterchrist has a Florida death metal vibe to it. There's blastbeats here and there but it's mostly midpaced. I like this more than a lot of the uber-brutal stuff that's coming out because there is more emphasis on the songwriting and memorable riffs. There's even a jazzy instrumental track in here! I was surprised to hear that, but it's quite cool. Some clean vocals are used sparingly on a couple songs, which sounds a little weird at times but it doesn't take much away from the album.

Abaddon Incarnate is an Irish death metal band, which I thought was cool because I don't know of any metal bands from Ireland. They have a fair amount of grind influence in their sound, with a raw production and a dirty guitar tone, as well as an aggressive and no frills approach to songwriting. If you are someone who thinks a lot of death metal these days is too polished and overproduced, you will probably find Abaddon Incarnate to be a breath of fresh air. I'm listening to this as I write the review and I actually like the band a lot! This is probably my favorite of the three.

These certainly aren't essential recordings, but if you want a quick death metal fix or you just can't pass up GREAT deals, then you need to buy this set! The package says that this is limited to 500 copies so get one soon."

"This box set went above and beyond my expectations.

The Polterchrist cd (Engulfed By The Swarm) is some killer death metal, and is produced by none other than Brian Griffin of Broken Hope. Polterchrist really mixes it up while remaining true to the death metal genre.

The Coucil Of The Fallen cd is produced by Erik Rutan of Morbid Angel. In my opinion they are more black metal than death, but then again there is alot of deep vocals.

Abaddon Incarnate is a gridcore band from overseas. This cd has a late 80's or early 90's death metal sound to it.

I would have paid full price for the Polterchrist cd alone. Take advantage of this deal, only 500 were made.
