A solid, atmospheric, and sometimes frenetic soundtrack to a

"Cyborg is one of those "take your side" films, you either you like it or hate it with a passion. There are no "I'm not sure about this movie" viewers when it comes to this 1989 cult classic. I'm one of those who like the movie, but if the movie is good, the soundtrack is very good and even has some moments of brilliance. I like the fact that the songs reflect the mood of the film and fit perfectly.

This is the only work by Kevin Bassinson that I own, but I would say that he was influenced by Brad Fiedel for this one. You can compare Fiedel's original Terminator score to this one and understand what I mean. This comparison is not bashing on Bassinson's work but a compliment considering that Fiedel composed some of the finest Action and Horror movie scores of the 80's. Suspenseful tracks like "False Victory" and "The Marsh Fight" remind me of the chase scenes in the first Terminator film, while atmospheric tunes like "Fighting from the Cross" combine the aforementioned suspense with the eeriness of a soundtrack like that of "Creepshow" by John Harrison.

This album is out of print and has become a highly sought after item and this only adds to its value, not only monetary but also as a collectible. The only letdown is that, being a rare item, you have to be willing to dish out more money than you would like to, but if you can do it, I say go for it. I recently found a copy for $50 dollars, which was a good price for such a disc, and I don't regret it. If you are a fan of energetic, riveting scores and also a music collector(like myself), then purchasing this disc should be a no brainer. Get the movie along with it and you'll enjoy both better.

Cyborg Original Soundtrack

"Cyborg Original Soundtrack with Jean Claude Van Damme. The music was written and produced by Kevin Bassinson. A very rare and hard to find treasure to acquire. I own it. I highly recommend it. The music is dark, slow, progressive at times. Straight from the movie. The songs come into perfect synchronization with one another from the start to the end."
