CD Reviews

The happiest music on earth!
Whodathotit | Sunnyvale, CA USA | 09/16/2002

"This is the perfect antidote for the blues. It is absolutely impossible to feel down once you begin listening to this CD! I put it in the CD player whenever I need a lift. I DARE you to not giggle with glee upon pressing the "play" button! If you have fond remembrances of carousel music as a child, you will get goosebumps and feel warm and fuzzy all at once when you listen to this! Why take anti-depressant drugs when you can cure the blahs quickly and naturally with this CD? Like the first CD, this one is a very clear recording."
One of the Finest Band Organ Recordings!
Danielle Bennignus | 05/10/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Here it is, folks - seriously, one of the very best band organ recordings you'll ever find. The instrument is perfectly tuned (and one of Wurlitzer's finest models), and the studio's sound is ideally suited to the recording of it. Just enough of a "hall sound" to recall happy days spent at an old amusement park, minus the chatter and cheers of other patrons. If you enjoy this great music, you can't ask for much more than what this album has to offer.

The selections are wonderful - all are from the golden age of amusements, on old band organ rolls that offer the sort of songs these impressive instruments were made to play. All of the model 165's capabilities are showcase beautifully - pipes, bells, glockenspiel, horns, drums, you get the idea. From the hearty enthusiasm of "El Capitan", to the dreamy float of "1000 and One Nights", the organ performs perfectly. Standouts include "Would You Like to Take a Walk?", "California Here I Come", "After the Ball", Nobody Lied", and "Among My Souvenirs".

This album suffers nothing of the problem inherent in its sister album, "Catch the Brass Ring" - here, there is no hint of the abrasive, tinny sound that affects the glockenspiel's sound on the recording. Whatever change was made, it worked, and the result is a truly wonderful band organ album."
Another ride on the carouselMust say that this is amnong the

"Must say that this is a supurb quality recording of carousel music. Producing an analog recording of a carousel band organ in even the best of studio environments is difficult. The selection of music is also supurb, being recordings from marches to show tunes.

Only one recording of carousel music in my collection is better; from Disneyland's King Arthur's Carousel, "Once Upon a Dream". This is, of course, is a digitally mastered recording, and is in keeping with Disney Quality.

Thanks for the great CD!
