CD Reviews

Some rare ones here ....

"Of the 28 tracks on this CD, there were a few real gems, half a dozen clunkers, and some so so songs. You can understand why most of this collection did nt sell when released as singles, but if you are into rarities and obscure versions you may well enjoy this. First the clunkers, "Sherry Sisters - Stay Away From Bobby" (Bobbys Girl) "Paul Anka - Remember Diana" (Diana) "Marilyn Michaels - Tell Tommy I Miss Him" (Tell Laura I Love Her) I nearly threw up whilst this was playing !!! "Marie Ann - I Know Your Hearts Not Made Of Wood" (Wooden Heart) "The Shields - I m Sorry Now" (Whos Sorry Now ) Well those were the poorer ones and there may have been one or two more but what I find odd is how they kept straight faces singing such crap. "Long As The Rose Is Red - Florraine Darlin (That cant be her real name !!) I really enjoyed and if you like things like Connie Francis when she muli-tracks then this record would have been a monster hit for the girl if Bobby Vinton had nt beaten her to it with the original "Roses Are Red" Another oddity is "Margret Lewis -Honey (I miss you too) the answer to Bobby Goldsboro "Honey". You ve got to listen to the piano player in the background...like a Liberace on speed. In fact in some places he praticly takes over and drowns out Margret Lewis and sounds like he is about to fly out the window. "Barry Mann - Who Put The Bomp" was a big hit for him and the version by Frankie Lymon "I Put The Bomp" is equally as good. All in all not a bad CD. I would nt part with mine but Florriane Darlin ? what the hell happened to her because I liked her style but I suppose like most of the artists on here, must have faded into the twilight of history."

"Several of these songs are poor re-makes by the original artists. If I could return it for a refund I would do so. Unfortunately, Amazon will not provide refunds for digital downloads, so proceed at your own risk."
