Blues, jazz, bluegrass, older popular songs, what we would call folk music. There are samples available on amazon, listen to what a crazy wide variety there is. And this is a tiny snapshot of the sounds that the Folkways folks have recorded. Some of the recordings go back to wire recorders (pre-tape) or record cutters (record recorders) on people's front porches. Obviously the sound quality isn't always the best."
