CD Reviews

I ordered this CD for 1 reason alone...

(4 out of 5 stars)

"I bought this CD for 1 track, "Mindbender" by Stillwater, but I found several reasons to really like this disc. "Mindbender" is a song I'd heard only once in 1978 or 79 done as a cover by a South Florida band, but it's great hooks and funky theme, about a talking guitar in a pawn shop, kept me searching until 20 years later I found this album. The song didn't dissapoint and the other nugget "Out On A Limb" by Stillwater is another song I can't get out of my head...in a good way.Other reasons to buy this one are the 2 hot music-only pieces by Dixie Dregs, 2 great Elvin Bishop contributions (a great 8+ minute version of "Goin' Fishin'") and some Wet Willie and Allman Bros songs. I'm enjoying it even though my musical tastes have mellowed over the years and I'm looking elsewhere on Amazon.com now for a gun rack and a rebel flag...I'll get a truck later."
If Ya Want A Tasty Sample...

(4 out of 5 stars)

"If ya want a very tasty sample of some of the best southern rockers from the past, this is the album to get. It'd be redundant to go through each artist and song; suffice that the Hotlanta Jam by Sea Level and 'friends' is a rate find and just about worth the price of admission. This gem is highly recommended."
Great Southern Rock

"This is a great find. I bought it years ago and still listen.

Hot Lanta/Little Martha is excellent. My favorites: Out On A Limb, Mind Bender, Grits Aint Groceries... actually all the songs are very good.
