Synopsis

Album Description
Afterdark: Montreal is the 8th volume in Afterdark series. These compilations spotlight the "grown-up" sound of house music emanating from the world's most cosmopolitan cities and are designed for sophisticated music buyers who value credible music in a high-quality package. Montreal may be Canada?s second largest city but it leads the way for style and sophistication in North America. For this edition of Afterdark we?ve enlisted the talents of two of Canada?s leading DJs and Record Labels. GotSoul Records label head JojoFlores is a permanent fixture in Montreal?s hedonistic nightlife scene. His nightclub Therapy has been THE place to be for over 7 years and is an essential destination for any discerning music lover. His mix on CD1 is a perfect soundtrack to a night at Therapy. Bombay Records also has a permanent place in Montreal?s musical history. DJ Nav Bhinder started Bombay in Montreal but has taken the label to international acclaim with releases from some of the biggest names in House music, including Roy Davis Jr, Fred Everything and Miguel Graca.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I saw that there wasn't a review for this so I thought I'd kick one in. I have SF, Paris, Milan and NY. For me, this is the best so far. It has a similar feel as Paris (surprise) but the grooves are easier to get into, the basslines more complex and, overall, has a much more continuous feel to it than any of the others (except maybe SF). Montreal departs somewhat compared to the other ones I own in that it's pace is a bit more subdued, has more of a lounge feel than a club feel. Check out CD1 tracks 2,5,8 and CD2 tracks 1,7,10. I could pick more but, really, just about every track on both cd's are worth listening to."
