CD Reviews

Dancing to New Wave just got better.
Iggy S. | Bell, CA United States | 12/10/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Where could you possibly find the hits by the Buggles, Dead Or ALive, Bronski Beat, ABC, Animotion, and Men Without Hats compiled in one production? Only here. This cd is most memorable for the songs, "Radio Killed The Radio Star", "You Spin Me Round", and "Safety dance". It is really worth your money. Get it before it goes out of stock indefinitely."
We Can Dance If We Want To!
Robert I. Hedges | 10/21/2007
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I am not a big fan of dance music, but I recently went on vacation and was mercilessly and repeatedly taunted by the "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats. After returning home I looked it up on Amazon and found it very inexpensively on this compilation, so I purchased it on a whim.

The compilation is exactly what you would expect: a collection of 1980's new wave dance songs mostly from one hit wonders who currently reside in the "where are they now?" file. I have never listened to the radio much, so some of these songs were new to me; I had never heard of Blancmange or Visage, for instance, and after listening to this, that was just fine. Most of these songs got lots of radio airplay, but you need to like new wave or dance music to really enjoy these songs.

The CD is cheap and representative of the new wave genre, so I gave it three stars. If you have the opportunity, watch the "Safety Dance" video sometime (after all, video killed the radio star; the video is not included here, obviously): the line about acting like an imbecile couldn't be more apropos given the renaissance festival and roving dwarf motif of the video.

These songs are truly a time capsule looking into another age of music. Enjoy."
