CD ReviewsA Time and Place Frank Connolly | Arvada, Colorado USA | 01/30/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "This, the recorded works by Floyd Council (not counting his back-up rolls with Blind Boy Fuller, etc.),is dripping with the era in which it was recorded. Considering the limited recording technology of the day (1937), these songs have a nice easy feel to them. The expected 'snap,crackle,pop' during recording gives it the flavor that allows you to imagine the era without having been there.
It all started with the Blues, in little nooks and crannies like this. Be sure to pick up some Pink Anderson for your collection too, so you have the other half of the 'Pink Floyd' namesake." |
