Vanhal-Very Underrated....

"After learning that Vanhal, Dittersdorf, Mozart & Haydn on occassion played String Quartets together, I decided to investigate Vanhal. After previewing Vanhal's Sym.s Vol.s 1-4, I bought all of them. Haydn and Vanhal wrote in the same manner and when alive they enjoyed each others compositions. It would seem logical that they shared each others musical ideas, which resulted in great compositions for each composer. If you like Haydn you will like Vanhal. These performances are sublime, especially the Sym in C Major, Bryan C17, what a piece!!! If you like 18th Century music, then Vanhal's sym.s are essential to your collection...."

"This cd by Vanhal is actually really good. I have come to appreciate most kinds of music, metal being my favorite. If you are a fan of music like myself you'll like this album, even the great guitarist Randy Rhodes (R.I.P.) of the Ozzy Osbourne fame had a great appreciation of classical music. Being a drummer/percussionist I enjoyed the timpani parts in the c major symphonies, especially c17. Alot of this cd reminded me of F.J. Haydn, one of my favorite composers of the 18th century. If you like good music, and want something different check out this cd."
