CD Reviews

Another Great Single From Vanessa Amorosi
Homa Woodrum | NV United States | 09/24/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is an import single featuring the single version of "The Power" which is 3:26 in length. It has an interesting beat in the background, giving it a different feel from the album version. Next there is "Every Time I Close My Eyes," also in single version with a length of 3:45. It is also different from its album counterpart, it somehow seems to be slower and more subdued. Neither single versions are incredible but they're not bad either, just interesting to hear -- I'd say I really like the single version of "The Power" as opposed to "Everytime I Close My Eyes." Third there is "The Power" in its album version -- the song in itself is very inspiring, sort of a call for the strength to accomplish one's goals. Fourth is "The Power" in its spiced mix from the album -- I have to say I really don't like this re-mix, it placed too much emphasis on the extra beat and not the song. As always, Amorosi's voice is great, its really a 5 star single. The fifth include is the music video of "Absolutely Everybody." The video has a digital theme to it, with lights in the background and Amorosi singing with scene shifts to other people of various types that are dancing. For those of us who live in the U.S. and haven't seen any of Amorosi's videos, I'd say its a pretty neat thing to have. The insert for the album warns that the video may not be compatible with your computer, but I suppose it was just a disclaimer in case someone has problems. It ran fine on my Windows 2000 system, if that is any help. Luckily I found this single in stores where the price was more like a non-import single so it was a great buy. Amorosi's singles always are cool, and this is no exception -- she deserves credit for being such a great singer AND songwriter. Enjoy!"
