A new development in the work of the Ukrainian master (born 1937) who has been championed by ECM New Series since 2001. A cappella music of haunting beauty, characterized in turns by calm introspection and serene lightness. Silvestrov's compositions for chamber choir have a uniquely immaterial and transparent sound with otherwordly shifting harmonies and free timing. Compositions written mostly in 2005/06 on the instigation of chorus master Mykola Hobdych.
