"This is the final album of a woefully underappreciated band. Ut's beginnings are in the noisy & chaotic No Wave scene that gave NYC punk a firm kick back in the direction of anarchy & experimentation, the same place artists such as Sonic Youth, Swans, Glenn Branca, & Lydia Lunch started out. Ut's earlier albums, notably the vinyl-only Early Live Life, capture the brutality of No Wave, and are worth seeking out for a glimpse into the raw, visceral, but ultimately liberating power of that subgenre (especially in the absence of any reissues of No New York or A Taste of DNA). By the time they recorded Griller, however, Ut was channeling their fury & potency into more elegantly melodic & polished songs that burst with emotion. The album flows along with a remarkable cohesion, never really waivering from the underlying sense of regret, loss, abandonment, and pain. Standout tracks are Safe Burning, How It Feels, Wailhouse, Griller, and Dr. No, whose blazing guitars and desperate vocals convey grief with more urgency than anything committed to tape."
