Synopsis

Album Description
The much-anticipated & imminent arrival for the 1st time of the Live UNKLE experience at BIG DAY OUT 2008 and the special shows in each state from the World-renowned UNKLE, brings an Australian exclusive release - 'More Stories'. More Stories' continues under the creative core of JAMES LAVELLE & RICHARD FILE, alongside the production of CHRIS GOSS (QOTSA) + PABLO CLEMENTS & T BONE BURNETT. The tracks 'Kaned & Able', 'Heaven', 'Blade In The Back' and 'Synthetic Water' are songs from the soundtrack UNKLE did for the film 'Odyssey In Rome' (ABEL FERRARA, JULIETTE BINOCHE, MATTHEW MODINE & FORREST WHITAKER). 'Blade In The Back' was played live at their first London gig under a different name called 'Swampy'. The poignant vocals are maintained from IAN ASTBURY (THE CULT) on 'Burn My Shadow' remixed by RADIO SLAVE, plus 'Hold My Hand' from JAMES LAVELLE/RICHARD FILE remixed by DUBFIRE, as well as new offerings from AUTOLUX, GAVIN CLARK (CLAYHILL) and JAMES + AIDEN LAVELLE. The album has it all . all with an even more cinematic impact!

CD Reviews

Worth It
MassiveAttack | New Orleans | 06/07/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"If you can find this, it is absolutely worth the outlay of cash. I will second the initial reviewer's comment about disc 2; it's fairly worthless as it's music you already know with the vocals dropped out. That said, disc 1 is astounding, and I'd pay $29 for track 2, "Heaven" alone. It's ethereal, gorgeous and unnerving all at the same time. The following few tracks have a distinct War Stories feel ("rock" influence, so to speak). From track 8 and out it's a mid-tempo 4/4 electronic record with much more sonic impact than most. This is really some amazing stuff, and I never get tired of listening to it. And again, track 2 is one of the most gorgeous songs I've heard from anyone, not just the collaboration that is UNKLE."
Expensive, but great music.

"Recommended if you like the War Stories album. It's WAY overpriced though-- the second disc is worthless as it's only instrumentals of War Stories, but disk 1 is great. Again, it's overpriced, so only get this if you have the other Unkle releases."
