Synopsis

This 1996 release, perhaps Paris's most accessible in her long career, stands as her top-selling album to date. It's carried by the smash hit "Love's Been Following You," a light and rolling pop melody with a strong Celtic influence. "Jesus In You" is another crowd-pleaser in the same vein. Christian music fans will enjoy Paris's duet with Steven Curtis Chapman on "Faithful Friend" as well as her solitary testament to faith in "I Will Listen." She's consistent throughout this release with a graceful style, a heart of compassion, and a songwriter's aim to encourage the listener. This should be of no surprise, however, since this commendable approach has defined Paris's work since she began her career in Christian music. --Michael Lyttle

CD Reviews

My favorite Twila album!

"Twila released this album almost 5 years ago, but it continues to be one of my favorite Christian albums of all time.As I type this, I'm listening to "Renewing the Heart Live" and Twila is on this radio show and is talking about her new album which will be released very soon "Bedtime Prayers, Lullabies and Peaceful Worship". Twila is pregnant and is due to deliver her first child (little Jack, named after her husband) very soon. I'm very much looking forward to the new album, but please buy "I Will Stand"!The first track, "Love's Been Following You", really grabs your attention and is a song that you will find yourself singing this song as you go through your day. "Hold On" will encourage you as you go through hard times. "Faithful Friend" is a duet with Steven Curtis Chapman, and is excellent!"Jesus in You" was written to children, saying that people shouldn't put them down because they're young, and is very upbeat and encouraging. "Honor and Praise" is another of Twila's wonderful worship songs."I Am Not Afraid Anymore" is one of the best tracks on this album, in my opinion. Here are the lyrics:"I said I belonged to You But in a secret room, I kept a secret list I said, 'Anything for You' 'Anything but this, anything but this'...I am not afraid anymore You have opened all the windows Opened all the doors I am not afraid anymore I feel the wind of freedom like I never did before The light is filling up the corners Dancing on the floor I am not afraid anymore.""What Did He Die For" compares the death of a mother's son in World War II who died for our freedom and the death of God's son Jesus, who died to save our lives. "I Will Listen" is my favorite song on this album..."I don't know the way to go from here But I know that I have made a choice And this is where I stand Until He moves me on And I will listen to His voice"A very fitting ending to a marvelous CD!Please check out my other reviews of Christian books and music!"
One of Twila's best!

"The follow up to the incredible "Beyond a Dream" album, stands up on it's own merit. This is a fine collection of engaging and challenging songs from a woman who has been doing this for over 2 decades. Though the album starts off a little too familiar with "Love's Been following You," Twila quickly goes into "Hold On," a song about holding on to Jesus during your times of struggle. "I am Not Afraid Anymore" and "House of Cards" call the listener to be strong and steadfast in their faith, which goes nicely with the Steven Curtis Chapmen duet, "Faithful Friend." The highlight of the album comes from "What did he die for?", a song paralleling a soldier giving his life in WW2 to Christ's giving His life for the world and the awesome responsiblity that we have due to another's selfless act. The album closes fittingly with "I Will Wait." A call to those being used by God to be ready, but wait on His time. This is truly a wonderful challenge and a wonderful album."

"Turly inspiring album. The song titled I Will Listen allows your soul to personally and privately surrender...to God. It is very reassuring after listening to the song to know God is going to be with you and it is a matter if we decide to Listen to him. It has helped me to get through a difficult time in my life....Very encouraging vocals."
