CD Reviews

Tuuli is fantastic!

"First off, I'm not a kid, but the amazon account I use is a relatives, so I didn't want to misrepresent them.

This CD is one of my personal favorites, easily in my top 5. And thats coming from a guy who owns over 150 albums, most of them punk.

The songs are catchy, well written, and everything about the whole band, their look, their sound, is adorable. Its like the Go Go's combined with the Ramones. Great, sugary pop hooks with driving punk energy and enthusiasm.

In fact, my only problem with this album is that the music is so cute I can't pop this CD in around just anybody, the metal heads would make fun of me. But its an undeniable guilty pleasure, and I can honestly say I love every single song on this album.

I kind of wish the guitars were stronger on the mix, since the album would have a bit more of a punk "punch" to it, but it does still rock, albiet in a bit of a poppier, early Cheap Trick kind of way.

But I can't complain, with the exception of the rather pointless pop remix of "Its Over" tacked on at the end, this is a perfect album. Some highlights:

"Rockstar Boyfriends" -single funniest backing vocals of all time, the things they're saying in the background after the verse lines are funny, sometimes its a repeat of the line, but when they deviate it makes me chuckle (Verse: "So you have made it, everything revolves around you" Backing vocals: "You suck!" Verse: "I'll never take you back, I won't make that mistake." Backing vocals: "Even when I'm drunk!")

"Summer Song" -so catchy, with the "Hey yeah yeahs" in it, it also has some funny lyrics ("This summer sucks but its winter in Australia")

"Whos The Fool Now" -Once again, great catchy song. Coolest line in the whole CD is on this song: "I'm standing in the pouring rain, that way you will never see me cry."

"Here We Go" -Total buttkicker of a song, super fast, and seems to feature stronger guitars than the rest of the album. Also the solo sounds just like something Steve Jones would do (he's the Sex Pistols guitarist, and thats a compliment). I love how it goes from the totally punk solo to the guitar dropping out all together and its just the rolling drums, bass, and Go Go's-ish handclaps. Great way to end the album (the "It's Over" pop remix doesn't count), and I find when I listen to this song in my car, I speed a lot more.

What more can I say to make you give this a chance, they write good songs, play their insturments well, their voices are like angels, and the girls are pretty to boot.

I wish they had given us more though. Their website is down, meaning that they could only have broken up. They, like the Sex Pistols and the X-Ray Specs, managed to give us one fantastic album before they were gone.

I guess the brightest flames do really burn the fastest.

My highest props, buy this album. It almost makes up for Canada giving us Avril Lavigne.

Almost. ;-)"
EXCELLENT!

"This group is great. I have seen then live where I picked up this CD. They were fantastic. For tough spunky chics. I love them, the CD is a perfect compliment to other punk hits like L7 or Babes in Toyland. GREAT! GREAT! GREAT CD!"
