Synopsis

Album Description
The legend of Led Zeppelin needs no introduction. Although they are renowned as purveyors of heavy rock, the band also had a softer side often influenced by Celtic themes and traditional English folk music. The Celtic Tribute to Led Zeppelin offers a bold new take on the band's much revered music. Using traditional instruments such as fiddle, concertina, bouzouki, accordion, banjo, and penny whistle, our acclaimed Celtic musicians provide rich, atmospheric instrumentals that showcase the true genius and dynamics of one of the world's most influential rock `n' roll bands.

CD Reviews

Glad to be the first Amazon review
Gaylen Halbert | Weimar, California United States | 04/28/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Led Zeppelin had a softer side influenced by Celtic themes and traditional English folk music. Although Amazon states it is "various artists", the CD in small print has the music performed by The Boys From County Nashville, four musicians named in the liner notes. Whoever these guys are, they sure have done a terrific job of recording an album that will please Zep fans AND those with a fondness for Celtic, Folk or Bluegrass music. I listened to every song sample to make sure this was not some corny ripoff of Zep music. It most emphatically is not! It is one of the best CD purchases I have made in 2007."
An interesting albumn

"I suspect that your first reaction to the albumn title was What! I was surprised to find that the covers are well done and I enjoy listening to them. I especially like their versions of Black Dog and Stairway to Heaven. My only complaint is that some songs that I would have liked to have on the albumn are not there. I guess we can't have everything."
An Artful Interpretation

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Unlike most Led Zeppelin tributes/covers, this is brilliantly well-done and well-thought out. Instead of trying to mimic Led Zep note for note with different instruments, this brilliant album instead takes the inspiration of each song and brings it back to its Celtic & English folk roots, and the band often adds its own Celtic intrepretations (such as the ending part of 'Stairway to Heaven') and disregards sections that would be too odd or too out-of-place to reproduce exactly with Celtic instruments. This is a strength, as it gives the music a unique flair, and shows a complete mastery of musical talent and a comprehension of each song on a deeper level, instead of a basic copy-and-paste method. It is less a re-doing of Led Zep than it is a re-interpretation, and a brilliant, unique, and lovely one at that. Highly recommended."
