Baltimore?s trephine (not to be confused with the band from Michigan that was on conquer the world) play a unique blend of metal/prog/punk/noise/math rock that has gained them attention throughout the US. Their instrumental, guitar/bass/drums assault is joined by found object percussion which adds a unique texture to their sound. For their full-length debut, TREPHINE called upon three masters of their craft-- producer/ engineer, Jon Smulyan (MEATJACK, SWARM OF THE LOTUS, DARK WATER TRANSIT), mastering engineer, Alan Douches (MASTODON, BURNT BY THE SUN), and visual artist, Stephen Kasner (SUNN, INTEGRITY) ?to help make their strongest release yet. Prior to this release, the band self-released two CDEPs, ?Some Soundtracks? (1999) and ?Surgical Preparation? (2002). Trephine has completed two US tours plus countless ?weekend warrior? dates in support of larger acts. Their unique sound allows them to fit comfortably on a variety of bills, ranging from all prog-rock to crusty-punk dominated bills. Trephine has shared the stage with: QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, RASPUTINA, HELIOS CREED, BURNT BY THE SUN, PELICAN, UNSANE, DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, DYSRHYTHMIA, YOB, THE HIDDEN HAND, JUCIFER, KEELHAUL, MEATJACK, PLAYERS CLUB, SKELETON KEY, STINKING LIZAVETA, AND SWARM OF THE LOTUS.
