CD ReviewsBest Toyes yet!! 10/12/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "The Toyes, best known for their toker's anthem, "Smoke Two Joints," have surpassed themselves with "Strange Animals." The songwriting is crisp and inspired, and the band really rocks, especially with the addition of Jamaican reggae beasts Fully Fullwood (bass) and Santa Davis (drums,) the legendary rhythm section of the Peter Tosh band. "Whatever That Means" takes on presidential politics, y2k style, and I love "Mr. Dinosaur," although those ubiquitous Corona beer ads have made me a bit sick of it. "Think It Down," a slow, meditative cut, is pure heaven, and who could resist the rootsy "Pick Yourself Up." This CD has it all; great songwriting, great arrangments and musicianship, and sincere, unusual vocal tracks. You'll love this CD, and will find yourself buying extra copies for friends!"
