Nice collection of music done in a different style yet as well if not better than Sinatra.

Tony Bennett records the 'Torch & saloon songs" of Sinatra, an incredible combination. 24 favorite "standards" by a fine vocalist.

This CD , case and inserts are pristine.

Sets the Mood

"While there are other singers I admire more (Sinatra), Tony Bennett is definitely top drawer material. He is a consummate artist, vocalist and musician. This collection proves the point. He has taken a series of Sinatra songs and made them his own.

For the most part, these are love songs, torch songs and the like. They are not belted out in Sinatra style. Instead, they are easily sung and provide a soothing atmosphere. In doing so, nothing is lost. It is not better than Sinatra nor is it worse. It is simply a matter of a different style.

Great Recording!

TONY SINGS A TRIBUTE TO FRANK PERFECTLY

"SPECTACULAR!! Tony Bennett has unbelievable class and a voice that is matchless. This release of 24 Frank Sinatra tunes is one of Mr. Bennett's best. Tony is joined my the Ralph Sharon Trio, who have been with him for years making this release even better. It's in the intimacy of the torch song and the dark saloon that brings out the best in these songs. Yet it is Tony Bennett's unmistakable voice, matured by years of performace that can still hold and sway an audience, even a Sinatra audience. Besides these are some of the greatest tunes ever written! Listen to the WORDS and the DELIVERY -- Few vocalists can dare to replicate a whole album of Sinatra songs as a tribute to Sinatra and still make them their own. For example, there is "Nancy" (once a tribute to the 1st Mrs. Sinatra)--note Bennett's ending of the song, a soft chuckle in his voice caresses the song; then there is "I Wished On The Moon" or "The Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" or "I Wish I Were In Love Again" , all sung with great honesty. Tony's voice is not pure, no it is rough in places, but it's the kind of rough warm voice that gives everything to these songs. In his voice their is power. Listen to Bennett. He can hold a note longer, explore a phrase more fully, and devolop a song's inner strength with absolute conviction than most younger singers. You can hear the truth in Bennett's voice which, in this case, gives us the gift of Sinatra's songs. I URGE any music fan to order this ! PS Note the inside cover of the CD has a print of Sinatra which Bennett painted...his next love to his family and singing is his painting... so this is a secondary treat! BEG, BORROW, OR BUY THIS GREAT CD !"
