CD Reviews

Third album and probably the best one
cnfaimee | 05/22/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"1. Por un beso tuyo: First track on the album and also the first one we see the jibaro influence. Is a0 midtempo song that talks about what a man would do just for a kiss. The cuatro sounds beautiful here and also i believe there could be a slight reference to Tommy's relationship with Karla Monroig.

The song doesn't say anything new, but the way he says it makes the song work. This would be a good choice for second single considering the fist single was a ballad, and this track offers the jibaro influence Tommy has focused on so much in this album. 4/5

2. Pegadito- First single and so simple that is great. Very noncomplicated words are used im a melody about what is like to be in love and how everything is easier when your we that person. This song has the Tommy Torres label on it and it shows how sometimes what is consider less serious and complicated is the best.

¡Oye! ¿Tú qué estás esperando?" 5/5

3. Interludio jibaro- Is a prelude to "Lamento" and is a jibaro song. 4/5

4. Lamento- This song is that kind of song that you here for the first time and you don't love but each time you hear it you find it better and better until you just love it. I love the way Tommy's voice sounds here; very sexy. This a song about telling a person that didn't want you and then came back and now you are not interested. Is a little harsh but the way he says it makes it sound a lot less hurtful. The cuatro is also used on this song. 4/5

5. Tarde o Temprano- For me, the best song of the album. It's a power ballad that highlights Tommy's great attributes as a composer. This song is like a little story that makes you feel connected and impatient to know whats next. Love the way we turns the story upside down near the end.

6. Por amor- Just a beautiful song about how different can people experience love and how sometimes we take advantage of love to do things that are wrong. The lyrics are one of the best of the album and I would say it has the deepest thought of the whole record: "Del amor se ha escrito tanto, que mas que nuestra musa es nuestra excusa". 5/5

7. "El trabajito"- The song with Tego's colaboration and the chorus is a song that is very known in Puerto Rico, "Cuando las mujeres quieren a los hombres". Is nice and Tego's lyrics are good. I don't love it but it's cool. 3/5

8.Mar adentro- A song about a pirate and what he would do to be with that special person. The guitar on this song reminds me of "Sigo aqui", it has this nostalgic feeling that makes you understand and like the song more and more. 5/5

9. Imparable- Nice song about of how powerful and persistent a person can be when he wants to be accepted by one person. 4/5

10. Los otros cinco- For me, the worst song on the album but that doesn't mean is bad. It just that when you compared it with the rest it falls a little short. Is about a prisoner life and how he counts the days thinking of that loved one. 3/5

11. Fin de capitulo- Sweet and caring song. Tommy stops being the protagonist and is just a friend of a girl who just broke up with her boyfriend. He tries to comfort her and one can think ehemay be interested in her but this could also be wrong. There are many interpretations of the song and thats what makes it so great. The melody is lovely and Tommy's voice sounds beautiful. 5/5"

Great Third Effort for Tommy Torres
Carlos A. Martinez | Puerto Rico | 04/22/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is the third effort for this producer/ songwritter/ singer/ musician from Puerto Rico. A more amature album and clearly the reason why he takes his time to record them to have the special outcome he wants. Don't listen to the samples attached, because they are not from this disc."
