"If you like traditional country like Hank Sr., the Possum and Waylon, then you will love Tom T. Hall's Greatest Hits Vol I. Hall tells his stories in song with a deep baritone and plenty of twang and steel guitar. My father introduced me to this alblum in the 70's and it has been a favorite sing along since. I am just now replacing my vinyl with a CD copy I am ordering from Amazon.com"
Songwriter's songwriter, and persuasive performer as well

"This was my first Tom T. vinyl when it first came out, and I played it to death. I think sometimes Mr.Hall is unfairly devalued as a craftsman because much of his output falls into two camps: irreverent humor, or blatant sentimentality. He does both those moods superbly, but too seldom did he find the middle ground when country radio, the CMT of Tom's heyday, was willing to play his records. Yet anyone with an appreciation for singer/songwriters, commercial or non-commercial, needs to know Tom's work and own it and hear it often. My favorites on this release are "Homecoming" and "The Year That Clayton Delaney Died" but also great are "I Miss a Lot of Trains" and "Me and Jesus." This is one "country record" that positively influenced dozens of younger singer/songwriters."
