Synopsis

Album Description
Tim Harrison is a high energy, toe-tapping recording with strong folk, celtic and country influences, featuring Tim's compelling vocals and beautifully wrought arrangements of guitar, fiddle, dobro, mandolin, whistle, accordion, percussion and a host of other delightful sounds. Like his last and critically acclaimed CD, Bridges, Tim Harrison is a poignant and poetic collection of songs which reach deep into the heart. It includes 9 originals and 1 interpretation (Billy Edd Wheeler's "Coal Tattoo"). Whether he sings about love's lost journey, society's ills, friends in our midst, those departed, or joy, Harrison's songs are so alive with passion and pain, they at once tear the heart and heal the soul. The songs on Tim Harrison are a journey into the past and present, with new and previously recorded (pre CD) material from Train Going East, produced by Stan Rogers, and In The Barroom Light, produced by David Essig. It features the tremendous musicianship of artists Tim has had the privilege of playing with over the years (Loretto Reid, Mose Scarlett, Kim Deschamps, Rick Whitelaw, Rick Fielding, Dennis Pendrith, Chris Whiteley, Al Cross) and new collaborations (Chris Quinn, Zeke Mazurek, Gary Craig).

CD Reviews

Listen to the gray voice! Something is happening here!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This singer is the greatest discovery of the year, and one of the best acts to come from Canada in the last years. Harrison takes as much from modern folk as from traditional irish music. Although his voice is limited it is very effective. Listen to Macguire, a song about friend singer songwriter and you will want to listen to this guy. Listen to Irish Kitchens and you will see in front of your eyes the kitchens of emigrants, and the heat from the chimneys. It's just great. Dont hesitate, you are heading for many hours of pure magic!"
