Synopsis

Album Description
You may have heard of this TIM BARRY guy. Since 1991 Barry has fronted Virginias AVAIL, serving as the American bands singer, lyricist, and co-songwriter. Now,TIM BARRYs musical career is entering a new phase.TIM BARRYs first solo album, Rivanna Junction, a collection of ten acoustic guitar-driven songs recorded DIY-style in a home studio a couple of blocks from his house. Once again,TIM BARRY is forging his own path, trading AVAILs distorted guitars and concussive drumming for a low-fi blend of folk, old school country, and roots rock.

"I have been a fan of Avail since the early 1990's when I saw them open for Rancid at the Tune Inn in New Haven. Those guys weren't much older than me and their songs resonated deep inside me. Now we're all grown up and Tim has taken his vocal skills to a new arena, while maintaining the forthrightness and emotional aggression he channeled while fronting Avail.

Rivanna Junction is an intimate look into the heart and mind of a regular guy with extraordinary talent. He sings for the regular guy in the vein of old Bruce Springsteen or a tamer Tom Waits - both of whom I like. Tim Barry's motto of "Riding Fast and Living Slow" is what separates him from Bruce or Tom or any of his contemporaries.

A lot of us old punks have mellowed with age, but some of us are still struggling and striving to be heard, to make a difference. Tim has taken his talent and forged ahead without his usual band and has made a record worthy of many a listen. This record will not disappoint. When he comes to your town on one of his seemingly unending tours make a point to get out there and show some support for an important voice of the generation."
