Fine as a Bee's Wing

"K.T.'s first recording is her most traditional. Made when she was still a teenager, there is a spontaneous energy here her later, more polished albums seem to lack. There are so few recordings of Northumbrian Smallpipes that each one is required listening. I have all of T.K.'s albums, and enjoy each one for what it is, but this is my favorite. Hopefully, this CD will become available again in the near future."

Small pipes are more versatile than bagpipes!!!

"Kathryn was named Piper for the city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne by the Lord Mayor, at the age of 16...the first person to be so honored in 150 years. This music is wonderful; it lightens the heart and its echoes come down the centuries for me. My family visited our ancestral home at Hesleyside last summer, and so "Sweet Hesleyside" and "The Hesleyside Reel" have special meaning for us. The CD includes music from the Scottish Highlands and Ireland as well."
