CD Reviews

Too much fun it should be illegal!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Saw these guys last night with The English Beat and Reel Big Fish and was absolutely floored by the sound they put out live. First thing that caught me was the drummer has his kit front and center stage due to the fact he is the singer also...really makes him part of the band instead of "that guy on the riser". As far as making the show enjoyable, Dom (the drummer/singer) really is a hilarious MC for lack of a better term and kept the audience involved every step of the way. All the musicians are highly proficient and it shows with the quality of the performance. The horn section for having just 2 people really sounded awesome! Has to be one of the most enjoyable shows I have seen when it comes to this genre of music...and that is saying alot considering they opened for Reel Big Fish!!!!

Why am I giving you a review of a concert when this is supposed to be about the CD? Well I wouldn't have bought it if they hadn't impressed me live. What I got when I listened to the disc was exactly what I heard live..except for the tapestry of sounds and music captured on the CD that can't be performed live. Voice overs, background sound effects and funny inserts really give the CD a personality and in a way made you feel like you were a part of the recording session, just not getting silly string shot in your mouth! The "Thank Yous" at the end that they decided to record as well as list in the liner notes are a riot...just listen and have a good laugh. Stand out songs include "Crippy Weed", "Home Again" and the rediculously good cover of Billy Joels "Movin Out". He is a dead ringer for his voice...it is spooky!

These guys have a new devoted fan....can't wait to see them again. Thanks for a GREAT time fellas...BEST of luck!"
