CD Reviews

Guitars From Space !
peterfromkanata | Kanata, Ontario Canada | 06/11/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you like guitar instrumental music from the early 60s, this CD is essential. The USA had the Ventures--England had the Shadows--and from Sweden came the Spotnicks. With lead guitarist Bo Winberg, the Spotnicks really had a unique sound that this beautifully mastered CD captures.
In addition to being a fine musician, Bo was an electronics expert, making his own guitars and amplification systems. This was a key to the Spotnicks' "outer space" sound.
This CD contains a number of their most famous, original recordings, including "Orange Blossom Special", "Johnny Guitar", "Karelia" and, of course, "The Spotnicks Theme".I hope our friends in Japan come out with "Volume 2 " ! Highly recommended !"
"A unique sound of the past still healthy today"

"All "Originals" and this is the Best remastering I heard. Very clear, clean STEREO sound better than CD "1962/1966" by Magic records which was already very good. The Japs did a wonderful job as usual.

This CD is a must have as it contains nearly all their Best "Original" interpretations with the best possible sound.

If you are interested please read also my review of "AMAPOLA" 2005 double CD and "1962/1966". "AMAPOLA" 2005 (2CD 33 songs at a fantastic price) contains all recent recordings but Top renditions at very Top sound. Yes because..."The Spotnicks are like the good bodied red wines".

Ciao,

Franco"
