Songwriter/keyboardist/vocalist Scott Bradlee shares his profound gift for unique songwriting along with his complete mastery of piano styles from ragtime to modern jazz to rock, while bassist Chris Anderson and drummer Mike Lapke provide the perfect blend of soul and technique. Saxophonist Ben Golder-Novick lends his fluid phrasing and virtuoso technique to several tunes, most notably the soul ballad, "Happily Betrayed" and the modern jazz-funk of "Overtime." Other highlights include the lyrical wordplay of "A Very Fine Romance" ("I know all the times you've fallen harder than Rome/ Just to see your sweet Atlantis sink like a stone"), the Mingus-inspired polyphony of "5 O'Clock," and the funk-meets-reggae-meets-ragtime of "Graduation Day,!
