Bass Head | San Diego, CA USA | 05/24/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "Being a fan of progressive rock for a good part of my life, I had long given up hope of finding a new band that captured the spirit of this genre. I found The Reverse Engineers while surfing the web for some bass tablature by Rush. What can I say... I am so glad I found this album. Max Q is a sonic delight from start to finish. The Reverse Engineers deliver the spirit of hard hitting progressive rock in a masterful set of captivating songs. And while the sound is a bit reminicent of bands like Rush, the Engineers have a truly unique sound all their own. It is quite apparent that they love playing their instruments (there are some great licks on this CD), but they are great song writers first. The album opens with the driving "Mercury in Retrograde", which has some great bass licks with twists and turns, and moves into "Sunshine with the Shade", which while a bit simpler instrumentally, is pure genius and heartfelt. Also worth the price of admission is "The Same Path" which features a solitary vocal and guitar, and is one of the best songs on the record." What a great CD!!!!
