Synopsis

Album Description
"Every time I see you on a TV screen, I think I?m gonna puke!!" I think we can all agree that?s a slogan of disaffected Midwestern teenage boredom, circa 1984. I lived it every day in the late 70?s/early 80?s in Cleveland; likewise, The New Creatures did the same in Dayton, Ohio. Formed in 1981 around a nucleus of Bill Hustad and Greg Demos, The New Creatures also featured drummer Don Thrasher, later of Guided By Voices. The trio, lead by a surly 15 year old Greg (a.k.a. Johnny Toxic), managed a first gig at a the Dayton State Mental Institution and later gigged with bands as diverse as The Minutemen, Raw Power, and Toxic Reasons. An early gig in their high school gym earned the members 10 day suspensions from school for lewd behavior and foul language. The sacrifices we make for rock ?n? roll. The band?s earliest recordings were originally released as the "Pedamasoma" tape. Recorded at some con-artist?s studio in Xenia, the band was promised "huge Marshall stacks" they could use while recording, but showed up to an empty space and recorded everything directly to the board. The tape was to be released on Columbus? New Age Records (home to such classics as the Human Sufferage LPs), but for one reason or another, it never happened. Until now, that is. After a few more releases, the band disbanded in 1988. Bill later recorded with a couple Columbus outfits, most notably Medicine Wheel and Plastic Factory. Greg, donning a pair of striped pants, switched to bass and joined Guided By Voices. Don played with GBV, Tobin Sprout, and Swearing At Motorists. Greg and Don continue to record as 3 Dream Bag.
