Specializing in the early 70s proto punk sounds of the Stooges and the New York Dolls as well as select NYC punkers from the 70s (Ramones, Dead Boys), the Dallas Tx quintet the Mullens packs quite a punch. Formed in the mid 90s and comprised of frontman Tim Stile, guitarist Matt Mayo, bassist Dana Williams and drummer Rod Baird. All their albums have been issued by Get Hip, recieving favorable reviews in such well-respected punk publications as Maximum Rock and Roll and Flipside. On their fourth full length release for Get Hip, The Mullens have mastered the happy mix of 77 punk rock and 60's garage to create a sound all their own. That is no news to long time fans who have fancied their anthem like, riff rippin and ffot stompin brand of garage rock since their first album back 1997. But loyal fans and newcomers will be pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the song writing on the new tracks. They even add a newe dimension with jangly Byrds-ian chords in some songs!
