Synopsis

Album Description

This CD is exactly what you'd expect from the MLP: A big, triple chocolate ice cream sort of groove. It's all get down funky the whole way through, but this is not your average get down funky. It's clear that the MLP has really put some serious effort into this one. While still keeping it tasty as a glass of lemonade on a hot summer day, the overall effect is, to quote Douglas Adams, like being smashed in the head by a large, gold brick with a slice of lemon wrapped around it. You've got your MLP classics, e.g. Beatrice, Chuggin', The New Guy, and Charity, but you've also got some new stuff that will definitely get your pelvis moving. We'll go track by track to make it easier for the folk that are the type to skip to their favorite songs on a CD.

"After five years of playing together with far too few performances, you need to listen to The Missing Lance Project. This IS the CD that traverses all age groups. As this CD becomes more popular, these guys could threaten to become the next "overnight success". Could they hit the charts as hard as Counting Crows did with their first album? Oh yeah. Here's why.The playing is first rate from them, the songs are catchy, even quirky, and the vocals will get you smiling. A good feeling "alternative funk" (their term) musical excursion by four musicians who are in it for the music!Can we hook these guys up with T-Bone Burnett?"

"This album combines funky flavor and musical integrity to make one intensely amazing album. It combines aspects of rock that aren't heard anymore these days, such as songs with a lyrical bass guitar groove, songs with drums like nobody's business while still keeping the smooth sensation, and guitar tracks that go from supporting subtlety to ROCKING solos, like on track 5, Stick the Groove Jam! The vocals are just awesome and mellow when need be and crank when need be. This album is for you 311-Incubus type fans, as well as you Bob Marley-Led Zepplin fans. Seriously, folks, this album is great and anybody can have fun with at least one song! I recommend it with all of my heart!!!"

"Alright, I'm biased. I've known the MLP for years, I'm sleeping with the entire band, and I wrote the editorial review you see up there. But seriously, this album is tasty. It's tastier than tasty. It's a veritable joy-gasm of Funky McFunkenheimer. I mean, where else are you gonna get an absolutely stone cold groove for ten bucks? So, you can either get yourself some Chicken McNuggets, or you can save your arteries and your brain and pick up this CD. It's got something for every mood. You've got the "Damn, my girl just broke up with me" vibe of The New Guy, the chilled-out rasta grooves of "Predator" and "Beatrice," the good-ol'-timey happy that you get from Chuggin' and Free Ride to Paradise...the straight from the pelvis funk of Stick the Groove Jam, and the gritty, political strangeness of Charity. Dude. It's ten bucks, and it's good music. Buy it, get hooked, and follow the MLP around wherever they go. You can sleep in my van."
