Innovative from the start, Metroschifter has made a career of throwing curveballs at its audience. The early years of the band were marked by the rapid fire writing, recording and releasing of their records along with a rotating cast of band members including folks from bands such as Rodan, Endpoint, Clikatat Ikatowi and Shipping News among others. Over time Metroschifter settled into its core lineup of Ritcher, McClimans and Reinstatler. The band would continue challenging its audience over the years with country records, the incorporation of electronic elements into their music and the release of an album of, at the time, all new Metroschifter material recorded by other bands. This period saw the band tour Europe and the U.S. several times. Metroschifter went on hiatus in 2001, but returned in 2005 with periodic shows (one notable show also included a spelling bee). In 2009, the band recorded their first batch of new material in eight years. Metroschifter will be marking their fifteenth anniversary this year with the release of Carbonistas in August of 2009.
