The Mattoid is Scandanavian gothic meets post-folk gruel, a rare and often unsettling combination of bizarre vocals, creep-mod song writing, and a compelling stage presence that has packed venues up and down the east coast. Originally from Helsinki, Finland, The Mattoid spent time as an integral part of New York and London's "anti-folk" scenes, enthralling audiences with his mysterious accent, riveting stage presence, and magnetic repertoire of subtly twisted rock and roll songs. Add to this his own, unique style of rhythmic guitar playing called "sango," and it's easy to understand how The Mattoid has built a strong underground following. Now, Cleft Music, a new imprint out of Nashville, TN, in conjunction with Morphius Distribution, is proud to offer The Mattoid's first studio-produced album "Hello" for national distribution with a full radio and press roll-out, as well as national tour support.
