Synopsis

Album Description
This musically (and lyrically) brilliant parody of Sixties psychedelia via an imaginary West Coast band The Fraternal Order of The All - allegedly recorded "between August 2 1967 and August 2 1968" - is in reality Andrew Gold's homage to many of his Sixties US and UK musical influences. This inspired album was first released in 1998, but is now reissued as a result of growing interest worldwide from fans of Sixties music who have discovered Gold's clever pastiche. "I got the idea from listening to XTC as The Dukes of Stratosphear. I thought it was fun to disguise yourself as a Sixties group," says Gold. "Since my influences are showing most of the time I thought I'd indulge myself to the nth degree and imagine I'd actually been in these bands." With help from just a couple of friends - members of California Sixties cover band The Bellbottoms - Andrew otherwise sings and performs everything on the album.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Simply one of the best recording projects I have ever heard, since The Beatles, "Sgt. Peppers", The Beach Boys, "Pet Sounds" and the never released, "Smile" album. I listen to this cd all the time. It's Great! Wonderful! Captivating! Heavenly Produced!
You will not be wasting your money purchasing this CD. Even if you have to purchase it as an import.
You will treasure this CD for a lifetime.
Thanks Andrew! I only wish you would release a volume II."
