CD Reviews

As Good As Ever
Michael Elliott | Baltimore, MD USA | 10/19/2010

"Haven't looked at DVD yet but the CD is great and a very good addition to one's Doobies' collection. Don't hesitate to pick this one up and enjoy it. I think Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons are right at the top of their game. For me the token role of Michael McDonald is perfect, since to me The Doobies are Tom and Pat with the rest. Now on to looking at the DVD - an extra goodie when the CD is already worth the price. Enjoy folks!"
Very Satisfactory

"There are some albums that just make you smile when you listen to them. This was one of them for me, much like Mike Daughty's "Haughty Melodic" or pretty much any Mavericks album. I absolutely understand the reviewer who balked when the first thing he heard were the steel drums, but for those people that enjoy "Best of the Doobies" type Doobies, this is a very satisfactory album.

I found family members spontaneously dancing and enjoying themselves tremendously while this played. It has a very nice groove that is maintained through songs like "My Baby" and "Nobody." Many of the tunes hark back to the most accessible of the Doobies' works ( just watch the marvelous video for Nobody, which overlays vintage concert film with their present day appearance).

I can forgive the atrocious Santana ripoff for the smiles we've gotten from the rest of the album."
