Perhaps best known for Sh-Boom and Earth Angel, The Crew Cuts were a Canadian vocal group who developed something of a niche for themselves recording cover versions of R&B songs. This resulted in considerable success in the US, even though their success in Canada invariably came with non-cover material! Their hit output came whilst they were signed to Mercury; a switch to RCA in 1958 saw them try to diversify their repertoire, as the aptly named Surprise Package would suggest.
