Synopsis

Album Description
The second single to be lifted from The Concretes' wonderful Hey Trouble album, Oh Boy brings the band right back to the form of their first album. Crammed into just two and a half minutes or so, the A-side crashes in like pop music played out on a symphonic scale, sounding like a Phil Spector-produced Abba, loaded with ringing piano chords and anthemic horns. B-side, 'The Sentence' is a comparatively sedate affair, focussing on organ-driven downbeat balladry. Also included are two new versions of previous single 'Kids'. The first is a collaboration with Ed Harcourt, who helps strip the track down to a stark piano piece. Gone are the bouncy pop trappings of the original, instead the lyrics take on a wistful quality that wasn't there previously. Coming at it from an entirely different angle, Justin Robertson tries his hand at remixing the album version, resulting in a thumping electropopper.
