Synopsis

Product Description
From sinister to sexy, robotic to playful, the sound of "Exile In The Woods" is undeniably unique and unforgivingly funky. Tight drums consistently hold down these instrumental, analog synth-heavy grooves. Half of the album's twelve musicians are credited with synthesizers, including bandleader/producer Cheeba, Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Steve Moore (Laura Veirs, Skerik's Syncopated Taint Septet), and Aja West (The Mackrosoft). A wide array of more organic instruments are featured as well, including trumpet, violin, sax, clavinet, guitar, and melodica. Also of note is Peter Scherr of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra on upright bass. Cover painting by world renowned zoologist/author Desmond Morris (The Naked Ape). Recorded in Seattle, Los Angeles and Hong Kong.

CD Reviews

Funk from not of this world!
Gordon Tutor | Tupelo, MS USA | 08/08/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I really cant say enough about this CD. This is some of the funkiest music I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. From the videogame-like groove of Chatter, to the chill beat of The Treehouse; Cheeba, Aja West, and the crew display their funky talents track after track. These guys are truly legendary performers who definetely deserve more recognition. If you like this CD, check out Flash and Snowball, and other records on the Mackrosoft label. Please help to spread the Mackrosoft gospel. The world needs more funky music like this."
Super funky jazz

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album is out of control.

It's jazzy, funky, and at times reminds me of the songs heard on the old Sega Genesis game "Toe Jam & Earl".

It even got the stamp of approval from my Dad, who's a jazz fanatic. The cover art is really cool as well, it reminds me of the animation seen in the French animated film "La Planet Sauvage" (Fantastic Planet)."
