CD Reviews

Nice rediscovery
C. Kuschel-Toerber | Frankfurt, Hessen | 05/30/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Terry Sylvester sang harmonies and played rhythm guitar with veteran British band The Hollies between 1969 and 1981, originally replacing founding member Graham Nash. Terry was also featured on Holies lead vocals occasionally and recorded two brilliant solo albums in 1974 and 1976. After leaving the Hollies he teamed up with former "Bread" member James Griffin as "Griffin & Sylvester" for a 1982 release. Terry Sylvester now resides in Canada but still performs in Nashville and Europe frequently. This full-length double CD offers an excellent collection of Terry's best solo work, including some rare or unreleased tracks, mainly written by Terry Sylvester, but there are also songs by the likes of Albert Hammond or Stevie Wonder. An easy pop sound with memorable tunes and lots of nice acoustic guitar work, music with a timeless quality; well worth discovering!"
Great Music, Brilliant Songs, A Wonderful CD

(5 out of 5 stars)

"43 superb tracks are featured on this 5 star rated double CD by Terry Sylvester, who first shot to fame by replacing Graham Nash in The Hollies in January 1969. 3 previously unreleased gems, plus 6 songs making their CD debut, are included in this fine collection. Highlights include, the haunting "To One In Paradise" by The Alan Parsons Project, from "Tales Of Mystery And Imagination" that Terry sang lead vocal on, "I Wanna Shout" a duet with Hollies lead singer Allan Clarke that also features Elton John on Hammond Organ, 2 versions of "Cablecar", one by The Hollies, and Terry's classic Alan Parsons produced track. The whole project was produced at Abbey Road Studios, and you can tell, the sound is amazing. Add to all this a lovely fold out digi pack full of photos, and an up to date biography on Terry, and you have value for money all the way. Thank you Magic Records of France for this wonderful CD."
